John has been a reader since 1989 and lived in the parish for 25 years until 2003.

He has a diploma in theology and is a preaching companion to readers in training. The craft of preaching to inform and challenge is an area he finds particularly rewarding.  

A physicist by profession , he holds a Masters degree from London University.

After 4 years in industrial research,  he became a science teacher working in selective, comprehensive and independent schools; he is now a freelance  physics tutor. 

Amongst his  interests are travel, trams, classical music and square dance calling.
